Books, we
either love to read or we don't. How I judge a book is by whether or not I can
put it down. If it keeps me glued and turning the pages then I say the author
has done their job.
People, I
am so tired…………. so tired of fighting. So sick of little narrow minded, ill-educated
people who are not capable of original thought! People who lack talent, yet
feel the need to slander and put shit on others who can actually achieve
something! Is it jealously?? WHY CAN'T WE JUST ENJOY BOOKS FOR WHAT THEY
ARE? Why do we need to COMPARE them? Such as the banter going on over
Harry Potter, Twilight and the Fifty Shades of Grey books.
Just let me
take a moment to try and squash some of the accusations being thrown about here,
about all three books. All of which I have read and utterly enjoyed I might add!
Unlike most who are just repeating hearsay gossip and not actually able to make
up their own minds.
Harry
Potter was written for CHILDREN.
Twilight
was written for TEENS.
Fifty
Shades Of Grey was written for WOMEN 20+.
They are
ALL LOVE stories!
They all
share in common the HATRED of being written. Let's not forget the war cries
from CHRISTIAN CHURCH groups, calling on banning the books, even burning them
because they were the work of the occult and the devil. Makes you laugh now
doesn't it?
Twilight got
its bad rap after the poorly made movies where released, which butchered the
story, and couldn't translate well what was in the book to the screen. It then
became all about the actors and not the story. (Note: Harry Potter fans
would have to say the same for their movies)
Like this
comment: "I wanna make everybody aware that 50 shades of grey was
originally a twilight fanfiction, all the author did was change the names of
the characters. (Yet, still written better than how Stephanie Meyer wrote
Twilight)"
For the
last time FIFTY SHADES OF GREY is not PORN! Nor is it a TWILIGHT rip off! The
only comparison between the two books perhaps comes from the male leads
intensity.
Edward's
love/over protectiveness of Bella ~ Christian's love/ over protectiveness of
Ana. THAT IS IT, comparison over! Fifty Shades is about a young business man
who came from a troubled past, Twilight is about VAMPIRES and WOLVES, and a
young girls love between the two. There isn't even a LOVE TRIANGLE in Fifty Shades.
Did you even READ the books???
As for ‘Fifty’
being written better, sorry, I can't let that go. Twilight flows, where as
Fifty Shades is jumpy, almost odd in places, and has a hurried messy
ending that seems to have been just thrown in like a slap. You are all
engrossed and BANG it's completely changed and there, we are done, THE END. So
no sorry, not better written.
Here’s
another comment that makes me grit my teeth. "Fifty Shades is pretty
Porny!"
Yes the
book is sexual. It is written for adults after all. However it depicts a love
story. They are a young couple falling madly head of heels with each other and
can't keep their hands off one another. Now PORN, is the invention of MEN,
designed for MEN, and is PURELY for male instant gratification. Not often in
PORN do you see a man really care if the woman he is JABBING is actually really
enjoying the experience, or is well satisfied afterwards. Were as Christian
Grey is all about Ana's PLEASURE, NEEDS, WANTS, and she is about his, it is
about give and take, and real union which you will NEVER find in PORN.
PORN is not
LOVE, and if you look towards it as an education tool you guys are going to be
getting it so wrong! Men you should pay attention to what your women are
reading, and maybe you will see that we both want almost the same thing. Women
are emotional, and sex that doesn't feed that side is just not that great. So
think about that (MEN) next time you hop on for a two min joy ride and roll
over all smug. TRUST ME, she got ZERO out of that! Maybe you should read more
books, and watch less porn???
The other
bug bear that gets me is the fact that mainly young kids are shocked that sales
of Fifty Shades has out sold Harry Potter.
So what
that it has sold more copies than HARRY POTTER! Why is that such a crime?
Hasn't JK Rowling made a tidy living from her beautiful story? But what about
the fact that more adults read more than children? That a lot of children
watched the movie instead of buying the book to read? That children needed
adults to buy the books for them. That Fifty Shades is pretty cheap, selling
for around $10 a book, where as Harry Potter came out for about $25-$30 per
book.
Books are
read to escape life for a while. To remove yourself from the day to day drum,
and just dive deep into lives of pure fiction.
But so
what. Sure The story of MR. FIFTY has spread like wild fire. It is a good read.
Women are rushing to get on the Fifty wagon. Radio is even talking about it.
Why?? Is it the sexual side to the story? Is that what we are drawn towards? Is
it the type of sex? It was certainly varied and far cry from the wham bam not
so much thank you woman! I would love to hear from other woman who have read
the books.
For me it
was the way they developed as a couple. The slow trusting, learning, and
growing stronger together. I liked the fantasy of play, and they way that
sometimes it crossed over and almost destroyed the relationship. I liked the
way that in the bedroom, he was strong and giving, but without her strength
outside the bedroom, he was lost. Who wouldn't want a man to just WANT you! ^_^
I can tell
you after dealing with school runs/homework, shopping, cleaning, working,
cooking, it is nice to kick back and be totally lost in a world of tantalizing
fiction!
Why thank you Gekko Boss.
ReplyDeleteHi Criss! Just found your blog and I really like it. I haven't read Fifty Shades (yet!) but I do plan on getting into it once my son starts school this fall. I've read a lot of the bad reviews too. A friend of mine who read Twilight started to read Fifty Shades but got angry because she felt it was a rip off and so she ended up sending the books back to Amazon and not finishing them. Personally, although I loved the Twilight books, I don't really care if it's a rip off or not. I'm just looking for some good escapism. I really enjoyed reading your take on things and look forward to following along with your blog! :)

DeleteThank you Jenn. I am new to all this, but I am finding it to be a fantastic outlet for my inner voice. I really can't see the Twilight rip off? It is a a fun read. But beyond the erotica, there is a tender touching love story, which for me at least was interesting. I would love to hear what you think after you have read it.
ReplyDeleteYou could always borrow it from the Library if you are not sure if you are going to like it. But reviews are very much love or hate it. But then that can be said for many books.
I read "The Time Travelers Wife" because everyone raved it was a fantastic love story. But I didn't enjoy it as much as some other books. I thought the author, quite honestly, didn't have a clue about real love, the difference between loving sex and just screwing, and the whole miscarriage bit was utter BS! Also the relationship between him and her when she was a small child could be considered highly inappropriate almost child predatory. But I still read it all, but it wont go into my I love it and will read it again one day box! ^_^
I hope you enjoy it. I want my hubby to read it. His interest spiked when he kept hearing me laughing and giggling. For me I enjoyed the banter they have, especially in their emails. It reminded me a bit of my hubby and I. I enjoyed the second book the most.
Thanks again, let me know what you think. ^_^
